Member of the Eastern Region Campaign (Province 1)
Mahila Janachetana Kendra (MJK) is a proud member of “Solidarity for Child Protection,” a strategic regional campaign covering all 14 districts of Province 1 (Koshi Province). From 2019 to 2022, MJK served as the lead implementing partner for the Jhapa district, focusing on creating a safe and protective environment for children through systemic change.
Despite legal frameworks, children in the eastern region face ongoing risks related to safety, education, and exploitation. The campaign addressed critical gaps in the child protection infrastructure:
Policy Gaps: A lack of localized child protection policies at the municipal level.
Capacity Issues: The need for elected leaders and stakeholders to better understand their roles in safeguarding children.
Youth Voice: The importance of empowering child clubs to act as monitors and advocates within their own communities.
Policy Lobbying & Advocacy: Engaging with local governments to draft and enforce child protection policies that align with national standards.
Stakeholder Training: Building the capacity of elected leaders and concerned stakeholders to implement effective protection mechanisms.
Empowering Child Clubs: Providing students and youth groups with the training needed to lead child rights advocacy at the school and community levels.
Central Alignment: Sharing regional findings and outcomes with central-level authorities to influence national-scale child protection strategies.
Regional Lead: Solidarity for Child Protection Campaign
