Kakarvitta, Jhapa — Mahila Janachetana Kendra, a leading community-based organization dedicated to women’s empowerment and community development located in Mechinagar-6, Kakarvitta, Jhapa, successfully conducted its 23rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on October 8, 2026 (2083/06/22 B.S.). The formal proceedings took place at the organization’s central office premises in the presence of executive board members, general members, community leaders, and distinguished guests.
The 23rd AGM served as a vital platform to review the organization’s key accomplishments over the past fiscal year, evaluate ongoing social initiatives, and map out strategic goals for the upcoming year. During the program, annual administrative and financial reports were formally presented and unanimously endorsed by the general assembly.
Speakers at the assembly highlighted Mahila Janachetana Kendra’s continuous effort over the past two decades in promoting gender equality, skill-building, social awareness, and sustainable development within Mechinagar and surrounding regions in Jhapa.
A major highlight of this year’s AGM was a special felicitation ceremony honoring Ms. Kabita Nepal, the Founding President of Paribartan Theatre and a prominent figure in Nepal’s contemporary theatre movement.
Mahila Janachetana Kendra formally recognized Ms. Nepal for her exceptional contributions to the fields of art, culture, and theatrical performance. Through her artistic talent, creative vision, and powerful stage portrayals, Ms. Nepal has consistently used theatre as a medium for social transformation—raising awareness on critical social issues, advocating for gender equality, and driving positive community action.
Speaking at the recognition, representatives of the Kendra expressed deep admiration for Ms. Nepal’s dedicated service, emphasizing that art and social movements must go hand-in-hand to build an inclusive society.
