True empowerment requires a holistic approach that addresses every aspect of a young woman’s life. Supported by Tewa Nepal, this project focuses on elevating the status of girls and young women in Koshi Province by providing them with the tools, knowledge, and platforms needed to thrive in an equitable society.

The Context

Young women and girls in Nepal often face multi-layered barriers that restrict their potential. MJK has identified key areas where intervention is critical:

  • Political Underrepresentation: A lack of confidence and mentorship for young women to enter local leadership roles.

  • Socio-Economic Gaps: Limited access to the resources and vocational training necessary for financial independence.

  • Health & Safety Risks: High vulnerability to gender-based violence (GBV) and a lack of awareness regarding reproductive health and legal protections.

Project Objectives

  • Awareness & Advocacy: Raising community-wide awareness on the rights and potential of girls and young women to shift traditional mindsets.

  • Capacity & Leadership Building: Strengthening the skills of young women through intensive leadership training, enabling them to navigate social and political systems.

  • Protection & Rights: Implementing strategies to protect girls and young women from all forms of discrimination and gender-based violence through legal literacy and support networks.
