Discussion with Religious Leaders and Stakeholders on Child Marriage.

Mahila Janachetana Kendra (MJK) conducted a television talk show on child marriage and early union in collaboration with Suryodaya Television HD under the project Preventing and Responding to Child Marriage and Early Union.

The program consisted of six episodes. One episode introduced MJK and its ongoing work, presented by Executive Director Ms. Radha Pradhan. The remaining episodes featured discussions with religious leaders, a legal expert, a medical doctor, a police representative, and an expert on dignified menstruation, highlighting the social, legal, health, and cultural impacts of child marriage. The show was hosted by journalist Mr. Laxmi Uprety.

The talk show aimed to raise public awareness, challenge misconceptions—especially those wrongly linked to religion—and promote education, legal rights, health, and informed decision-making before marriage. Religious leaders emphasized that no religion supports practices that harm children, including child marriage.

The program was broadcast on Suryodaya TV HD every Sunday and Wednesday at 6:00 PM, with repeat telecasts on Monday and Thursday at 9:00 AM, reaching a wide audience and strengthening community dialogue against child marriage.
