Project Description:
Project is focus on the child marriage and early union. It aware the women and girls about the disadvantage of child marriage and early union. Through advocacy, awareness, legal literacy, training etc can reduce child marriage. According to the national law of Nepal below 20-year age marriage is not valid and punishable. Child marriage is one of the major problems for the nation in these scenario organization efforts to intervene community level and make aware to peoples for stopping early child marriage. We have pilot period 2019 to 2020 as a learning year for projects in two rural municipalities namely Kachankawal and Barhadashi, Jhapa. In these two Municipalities Muslim, Santhal, Rajbanshi, Chaudhari, Madhesi caste peoples have been living and child marriage rate also higher rate than another cast. So, we totally focus on child marriage issues to stop it.
Mahila Janachetana Kendra has implemented all the activities with the funding organization capital for goods Girls first fund, USA.
Objectives:
- To prevent child marriage in the targeted communities and increase social awareness.
- To form and mobilize the 4 young girls’ group in concern RMs To Increased self-awareness among girls, young women and boys of the target communities.
- To Change parents/families’ perception (positive) and behaviour (supportive and responsive) towards the girls/daughters.
- To Increased stakeholders’ role (involvement and support) in the initiatives and campaign to prevent child marriage and early age marriage and unions in the project area.
- To Recognized this issue by the concerned Rural Municipalities for taking consideration to address.
